For the most part the answer is NO. Most plants need care and attention, however there are plants that seem to thrive on neglect and require very little in the way of human care and intervention. In my experience the Trumpet vine, Virginia creeper, Lantana, Mints, Portulaca and I'm sure there are a few more I can't think of right now that do just fine left to themselves. Just about everything else needs our help to thrive.

To an extent. It depends on you personality. If your someone who is impatient you may do something with your plant that it doesn't need just because you want to do something. At best this will do nothing usefull. At worst it can be fatal. You may drown your plant because you just want to water it. The best example of this is when people stress a venus fly trap to death because the kept making the traps close. This get's more true the closer you get to plants like cactuses that need very little care. Other wise your plants need varying amounts of care. If your impatient and really want to constantly do something with your plant I would suggest either getting a plant that requires constant care, like an orchid which needs alot of watering or get a dog.

It is not true that neglecting a plant will make it grow better! Some times we plant and not give care, but most times these take many years to grow, and never give fruits, or even decline each year and die!
To see how can improve fruit plants and grapevines to grow better and faster, send e-mail to: tree20@myway.com
There is some one working to put in Web Site on how to improve plants. If any one wants to help him put in Web site they are welcome to do it, but not for profit, just to show and help others.
Good luck.

Definitely not!
I went away for four days thinking that it was going to rain all four days.
I come back, finding out that it was 85+ degree weather with NO RAIN, and my plants all wilted and dying/dead.
Only four plants made it out of the many I had, probably 15 other plants passed away :(

It is according to where you live. Some places such as east Washington state, Oregon, or parts of Florida where they get lots of rain do not have to work with their plants as much as the rest of the USA has to. But most of us are out there almost everyday working in our gardens.....watering, fertilizing, weeding, composting, mulching, the list goes on and on.

No; but some people do give them too much attention in the form of overwatering and fussing about with them.
