Top news story on fox is Obama not wearing his flag pin and implying he is a terror lover . I cannot believe the shallow depths they take to placate to their viewers . I guess this is hard news in right wing world . I wonder if Craig , torture , Blackwater , Iraq or any real news would just hurt the pea sized brains that watch fox ? Maybe they are doing it not to confuse them with the reality that the GOP is incompatant and only focused on greed and hate . Don't get me wrong I don't like Obama but attacking him for not wearing a pin is nonsense , maybe we should attack any Candidate who doesn't have a yellow ribbon around the antenna .
Anyone agree ? Why or why not .

You're right. If this was anything other than a character assassination, Fox would show recent pictures of the Republican candidates. I've looked, and guess what? Most of them haven't been wearing flag pins either.

It's an election season. Any news is good news. Except when you degrade the second in line for the Democratic nomination...
interesting math. The story had no bite. Yet it was extorted. Hillary Clinton has Darth Vader for a Campaign Manager.
Patty Solis-Doyle. Then the dark force employs over 400 storm troopers. Anything negative expect Hillary '08 is behind it. Even her own hits. She is in thick with Rupert Murdoch (Google murdoch-clinton). It's all planned political strategy. Welcome to the world of politics.
What pin? Who cares? He said too much and was caught off guard by a brownie reporter. That is the point. He did not handle the heat. (Round table ABCNews This Weekend w/ George Stephanopoulos)
Hillary '08 gets more empathy as she is perceived attacked. Oh Scarlet!! 13 yrs of pressure.... blabla hahaha here and there. Just a song and dance.
Thanks.

I thought I was the only one to notice that. At first I though I was watching Saturday Night Live. Imagine my disgust when I realized that grown men were nattering on about a goddamned piece of jewerly like some kind of old lady hen party. Of course we all have to realize that FOX is owned by by a right wing billionaire and run by Roger Ailes....a right wing operative going back to before the Reagan era. The point of the entire network is to spread anti-democrat propaganda in general and anti-Clinton and anti-'Obama propaganda in particular. Just wait until one of these guys is an actual canditdate.....I can hear the swift-boat fleet warming up now...stand by to repel boarders!

I was getting lunch on saturday and saw the same story on Fox. I couldn't believe it was making headlines. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure wearing an american flag pin has no respectable correlation to character or patriotism. I think being patriotic is sort of like being religious, those who do so quietly are the most devout. Getting up on a soapbox and dancing around with a flag in hand isn't going to make me think u love this country any more... its going to make me think ur an idiot for believing i could be tricked so easily. Moral of the story, news today is a joke beacuse it serves more to entertain than to inform. Lol at fox for this story.

LOL - That's funny. I was just watching Fox News and they haven't said a darn thing about Obama or his flag pin. They have talked about the Cop in WI that killed those six kids. They talked about the pedophile that was stupid enough to post the pics that Interpol unscrambled. They talked about Nintendo announcing that they expect a shortage of the wii this Christmas. They talk about Hillary adding Sandy Berger as an adviser to her election team. They talked about the unusually high temps on the east coast for this time of year.
Sorry, not a word about Obama or his flag pin.
Fateridder - Those links are rather OLD. I should also add that this wasn't a story until Obama declared that he would no longer wear it. He actually called a press conference to let the world know that he wouldn't wear it anymore. Personally I think the guy is getting desperate for attention since the polls are going south for him in a big hurry.

I'm rather new at this. (First Answer!).
I'm confused as to the tone of the question you have presented. It seems to me that you are attempting to direct answers to you point of view rather than asking the question independently.
If you are simply seeking affirmation as to your political views why present the topic in this forum? Especially, when your doing so simply incites negative responses from the group.
Wouldn't a better format be to ask what users think about the lack of a pin? Or, ask whether users see it as a non-issue?
Even the pea-sized brains part of your "soapbox" / Rhetorical question is simply a mechanism used to defend your views before anyone responded. "If you disagree, your organ obviously is inadequate".
At any rate, you are correct that it is trivial, but someone already mentioned Obama's camp brought it up. I will vote for the candidate, not the lapel pin. But the removal of the lapel pin and the reasons he told of us tell me a lot about the candidated.
Sincerely, Undecided in Indy

I say it's time we declare war on pin-less lapels! It's not like we have anything else pressing going on--who needs health care, why worry about the war, scandals? What scandals? Maybe we should vote to condemn an ad or something.
No wonder we are going down the drain.

not a matter of agree with you or them or not, but this is America. So what's so hard about wearing the American flag, especially with all that is going on and has happened. It is not a matter of appeasement, but the goal is to get votes right? who's votes? just a thought/question

All its about is grabbing even the smallest of headlines while attempting to show he's not united with the sitting President of the United States. He simply wants to say I'm a patriot but not on this issue.
Fox didn't break the news. Obie's camp "leaked" it out during an otherwise slow week on the campaign trail. Obie stated he just didn't feel it sends the same message as it did immediately after 9/11....
....since when does 9/11 have anything to do with a lapel pin? If you want to be president, by God, wear patriotism on your sleeve. In your heart is important, of course, but don't be ashamed of it.
Fox News Fair and more balanced than most other American media outlets

The only candidate for POTUS who consistantly wears the flag lapel pin is Giuliani. It is part of his image building on trying to make him a hero because of 9/11. Senator Obama, and others on both sides believe patriotism should be in one's heart not on one's lapel or tail gate.
Those who must advertise their patriotism may not be so confident in that belief so they feel they must reasure themselves and others of their patriotism. Those folks who are confident in their beliefs need not have anything like a lapel pin or silly little magnet flag or ribbon on their vehicle to feel and be patriotic.
