When I go into the above, click on start up, the only progs I recognise are my security progs. Can I delete the rest or seeing as I dont really know whats going on should I leave well alone. The reason I was contemplating this is because my Comp. is a little slow on start up. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

Don't disable them unless you know what you're disabling - you're likely to find a whole bunch of things stop working. A lot of the stuff loaded at startup is required and you may well find things such as your graphics resolution being reduced, your sound not working, your mouse not working, not being able to print etc etc

download the free and very handy - ccleaner. This will remove a load of junk from your pc and it has a section in tools which allows you to safely manage start up. Do not disable system files or keyboard - mouse drivers but many other programs can be disabled (update checkers etc ). A lot of programs when installed place themselves in the automatic startup section.

disabling them will not uninstall them

You can disable programs that run at startup without deleting them. Unless you know what you are doing you could end up with a slow, dead computer.

In effect, you can un-tick everything but your security, without too much of a headache.
