Ferns are pretty tough critters.

Lift the pot. Light? dry, aerate, water
Heavy? too wet, let it dry out.

Grab your pruners and whack it all back to the dirt. Serious, then life as usual and watch it go nuts. When was the last time you fertilized it?

They'll take all ranges of sun, prefer some sun, some shade.

you'll do fine

Some types of ferns don't like direct sunlight. Put it in a place that is more shady and see what happens.

It may not need as much water nor as much sunlight as your other plants. Move it out of sunlight and instead of watering it every time you do your other plants, give it a misting instead everyother time.
