No. There are other ways to play baseball than to have a cyclops sit on the bench and hit 3 or 4 times a game.
I saw one of Whitey Ford's 3 lifetime homers. The place went nuts. Boy, I miss that.

I would personally like to see them do away with the DH and make the pitchers contribute on the offensive side of the ball as well really think about it score tied at 0 in the 9th Josh Beckett at bat with 1 out and runners on the corners in game 7 of the World Series I think it would add to the exitment but then agian every time Big Papi swings the bat thats exiting, also if we didn't have the DH would Egar Martinez ever had been as good of a player as he was?? Thats a loaded question and the DH has just as many pros as cons

I live in Detroit and am a Tigers fan and have to live with the DH. I hate it. It violates the very first rule of baseball, a roster of 9 vs. 9.

I think the pitchers should hit. Up until you get to pro baseball, the pitchers hit. I mean, why stop when you get to the big time? There are some really good hitters that pitch, like Carlos Zambrano, Micah Bowie, and our own C.C. Sabathia. I think they should repeal the DH, or make it universal.

I'm a fan of the AL for a lot of reasons - but the DH is not one of them.
I think having the DH takes a great element out of the game... strategy.
I love watching this strategy come into play when the WS comes along - or during interleague play. Not only is it fun to watch the pitchers hit (or try)... but to see whether the skipper's going to sub... to weigh the cost/benefit of taking the pitcher out...
Some pitcher's can really hit, too. I mean - Babe Ruth started out as a pitcher... and Rick Ankiel as well.
I think it takes away from the game a little... having the DH.

Yes, and dont think for a second that the N.L has no DH because they think its not real baseball. The N.L owners do not want a DH because that is another huge salary they would have to pay.

Of cousre. You of all people should both love and understand the aspects the DH provides. Number one, the DH gives excitement, it also give pitchers the endurance with the added in-game rest. It has additionally given Yankee bums a chance to shine.

I think real American baseball means playing both offense and defense. It's more interesting to see that players are able to do both and at least TRY to be successful at both. There's not as much strategy in the American League when you don't have to worry about how you're going to handle the pitcher's spot.

in the modern era...people like to see action and balls hit a long way...as boring as baseball can be at times the DH is a good way to spice up the game.

No.
I hate the DH!
(along with inter-league play)
But it will never go away because the players union has gotten too big for it's britches.
