How about a new title for Liberals? I propose Neo Comms, short for new Communists. What do you think?

Hmmmmm. Neo Comms might work.

Considering that liberalism is perfumed code for socialism and socialism is communism's after life, neo-comm does make sense.

Good try, but words have meaning. The democrats of America today are not communist, they're socialist. There is a difference, but the basic 'force the people to work for the government' concept is very similar. Then there's that whole 'suppress free speech to keep the people in line' deal that they have going for them.

Besides, it sounds too much like 'neo-con'. It'd get confusing.

a neo-conservative deviates from a traditional conservative in that "back in the day" (the times of Goldwater) right wing philosophy belived that government should have little impact on your life. Neo-conservatives believe that government should act as a group that defends "morality". Such as making gay marriage illegal, outlawing abortion, making sure religion plays a more prominent role in society, outlawing stem cell research, etc. Neo-conservatives really aren't traditional conservatives. there more like fascists. If you believe the government should ban gay marriage, stop abortions, outlaw stem cell research, and make burning of the flag illegal you are not in favor of small government and you are not truly a conservative!

Yes. I've been using the term "neo-libs" because the neo-libs are always saying that the Founding Fathers were liberals. This is true in the sense that they held CLASSICAL liberal beliefs. The Founding Fathers would be Conservatives today. Today's neo-libs have absolutely nothing in common with classical liberalism.

Neoconservatism is the political philosophy that emerged in rejection of liberalism and the New Left counter-culture of the 1960s.
A neo-conservative (abbreviated as neo-con or neocon) is part of a U.S. based political movement rooted in liberal Cold War anticommunism and a backlash to the social liberation movements of the 1960s and 1970s. These liberals drifted toward conservatism: thus they are new (neo) conservatives. They favor an aggressive unilateral U.S. foreign policy. They generally believe that elites protect democracy from mob rule.

I think if insulting the asker will not get you best answer, and you're insulting those against you in your question, then you're not very open minded are you? As for "new Communists" do you even know what the Marxist idea of Communism was? It's not intended to be the extreme and oppressive government that tends to come from corrupt individuals. I suggest maybe you open your mind and shut your mouth. Try reading a little bit more into the ideas and philosophies of each different governing style before you criticize, and maybe you'll learn that most are not intended to be as evil and unjust as they appear.

Neo Conservatives actually named themselves NeoCons. It just happened to have caught on. I mean, the IRONY is, well, ironic that they chose to call themselves CONS since they've been "conning" the American people since Reagan was in office with their "faith based trickle down economics." I vote for NeoLibs or just liberals. Maybe the NeoCONS should be called "the corporatocracy." or "neofascicons." Since CONS got to nameselves, the we liberals get to name ourselves. Quit trolling!

I think some of the posters here like the term "neocon" because it's pretty easy to spell. It actually refers to a specific group of ex-democrats who became dissolusioned with their party in the '80s. Conservatives who were conservative prior to the 80s or after are conservatives.

How original. Referring to Liberals as Commies. Come back when you grow up.

By the way, ALL Conservatives are not called NEOcons. Only those who believe in aggressive, unilateral use of US force. You don't even knwo what you're talking about!
