I believe that demons are very real. I believe the Emily Rose story through and through. I am a firm believer in the Word of God. The Bible says that demons exist and they dwell inside of people at times, so I definately believe.

Actually, "The Exorcist" novel is based on a real-life exorcism:
"The inspiration for the book dated to 1949, when Blatty was at Georgetown University and read local newspaper accounts of an exorcism, involving a fourteen-year-old boy in Mount Rainer, Maryland. In 1970 the author, who had once considered becoming a Jesuit and entering the priesthood, started his research work for the novel. Ultimately it was based on an earlier case from 1928 and other historical cases dating back to the Bible."
The Catholic church does sanction exorcisms occasionally, so there must be some belief. Certain signs have to be met before one is allowed, but there have been such ceremonies conducted by those not from the Catholic church. So, belief is worldwide. .
Do I think demons are real? Sometimes it would explain why people who otherwise seem normal do certifiably insane deeds. Long, long ago, they would have believed that people such as Jeffrey Dahmer, Ed Gein, John Wayne Gacy and others were possessed. It actually would be more comforting to think it was demonic possession rather than a person being capable of doing such horrific acts. Like the average person, I want to say that there's no such thing.
The Emily Rose situation seemed to deal with a woman with mental problems, not possession.

Ihave not seenTEoER yet. Do you think it is worth seeing?
I was very moved spiritually by the original Exorcist( the priest as a Christ-figure who takes on the girls spiritual warefare and dies for her) but the sequels were disappointing
I think that most historic demonic possession or obssession claims were psycholgical or chemical(like ergot poisoning) or medical, but I do believe that there are demons and angels and that demonic possession is a possibility ,but all other possible causes should be looked into scientifically before running out to find an exorcist.

When i watched Emily Rose, i just thought she had something wrong mentally. When i watched Excorcist, that movie was off the wall. I couldn't imagine a person that could turn their head around without it breaking all the bones in their neck. I liked the movie , it was interesting as to what was going to happen next. I think out of the excorcist movies there to follow, the original was the best. As to demons excisiting: i think there are some things out there that cannot be explained, it could possibly be demonic.

l The word of God talks about demons. All through the gospels there are several occasions where Jesus is casting a devil out of a person. Demons are very real and they enter people through the sin in their lives or the sins of their fathers before them.

I've seen neither movie and so can't comment on them. I do firmly believe in demonic possession, although we Christians would be hard pressed to provide adequate proof to an unbelieving world that they couldn't misinterpret as a host of mental disorders.
