Im 14 years old and my birthday is coming up in the next week and I really wanted an iPhone. I know you all may think they either are the best, or the suck. I have seen about...30 videos on youtube so far for texting, internet, video, camera, music, music videos, movies, and etc. for the iPhone and I don't see any problems with it and I love it. I really don't give a hoot if its like 1 minute slower than some other phone, or if you don't think the texting is good. Im just wondering if it would be a good phone for me.

Ew, razrs and chocolates suck. Im not a little kid, I text, use email, use the internet, use the phone a lot, use my ipod video. So this would be like all of that rolled into one big mothership.

Er ok? My parents said I could get one, Im not asking on your opinion if teenagers should be allowed to have one, Im asking if the phone itself, would suit a teenager. I don't care what you think about my age and my having an iPhone.

Acctually, the phone would cost $300, the monthly bill would cost 59$ for an Individual plan, and internet is included. I read the Cingular website.

Ohh boy, yea I know, I have all good grades in school, but yet again, I don't need people to tell me that I shouldn't have an iPhone, all I wanted to know was if the features would suit me. Don't need a lecture.

Oh well, don't even bother answering anymore. Yes my parents have the money to buy one. They offered to me if I wanted one for my birthday as my first decent birthday present in a while. THEY offered to get me one.

Why wouldn't it be good, its like everything a business man would want, in a package a teenager would love.

I wish I could get one.

And as for the delicateness, I saw videos of guys throwing them and it didn't break.

First off, the phone is 4 to 5 hundred dollars. Second, to take advantage of the internet and texting abilities of the phone, your monthly contract would be like 250 dollars. Totally not worth it. You can get a phone that is just as good for about 2 to 3 hundred and your bill would be close to 100 a month and still be able to do most of the stuff the Iphone does. The only reason you probably want one anyway is that they are the "it" thing right now. If you really want one, wait a few years for other manufacturers to put a comparable product on the market and allow for some competition. Then the phone itself and the service will get closer to a reasonable price.

if you message a lot, a phone with a keyboard might be better for you. but the iphone's text entry system is fine. (as long as u dont need tactikle feedback). the only probleme is it can not send MMS, so if u do require this function dont get iphone.
internet. if u hv a laptop which uses wifi then u will know exactly how fast internet pages load because it is the same. EDGE is what is slower (try to avoid this as it is slower and costs more money). but u said you dont care about speed. so it is fine.
Video? iphone can not record video at all. it has a 2megepixel camera which is standard (nothing special, as there are already 5MP cams and above, but those above are very rare). if you like taking pictures i do not recomend this phone. (especially if you want to capture video)
music. done very good.
video playback done very good.
There is one other detail you should know: NO 3RD PARTY APPLICATIONS. as in no games, no java, no flash (which some websites might require). if u want games or other additional software do not get this phone. if you like customizing your phone dont get iphone.
Bluetooth. ONLY for the headset. so? can't send music video, pictures by bluetooth (sucks)
if u r gna use it for SMS, music, video playback, it is a good choice. but if u plan to do anything more than what i have listed do not get it.

Alternatives are: (check on google for specifications)
LG KU990
Sony Ericsson W960
Sony Ericsson W910
Sony Ericsson P1
Sony Ericsson K850
Samsung f700
HTC touch

AND WHO WOULD PAY FOR IT? Most kids at 14 need to pay way more attention to study than to making a video or text. You have three years to get the basics down right, if you don't life will not be easy.

No I do not think that it is convinet for you to have such a high tech phone at your age... I understand that you want one but your too young and I'm sure you hate hearing that. But just trust me, EVERYTHING happens at it's own time for a reason!! So your too young to get one in my opinon.

I wouldn't pay for my kid to have a cell phone, especially a $400 dollar one. Do your parents have the money for it, or would they have to raid your college savings to pay for it?

You're a bit young for an iPhone. Sorry, you might think you're ready for it...but trust me...you're not.
You're 14...NOT 24.
Just be grateful you have a cell phone at all. Kids in MY day didn't have cell phones...heck no one wanted to carry those Monstrosities around.
You kids today are just plain spoiled.
