I sure don't think pilots are "bad". Are you talking about pilots in general or commercial pilots? Maybe it's just a sterotype that Pilots are high flying jet setters that are up to no good when they are away from home. But I personally know a few commercial pilots and they are good friends and awesome family men.
In fact- Pilots are my heros and I always thank them when I step off a plane.

Because we're a society that watches the news. The only time the news people talk about pilots is when they're being caugh flying drunk. So pilots have that conntation that they're constantly flying drunk because a few pilots have done that and the media has covered it extensively.
