When I told my mom, she didn't believe me. She thought I was having some sort of bladder infection because I was born with bladder problems. I was 10 when I had my first period. My mom was a nurse and I couldn't believe that she couldn't tell the difference. Maybe she just thought 10 year olds don't get periods. Anyway, eventually she believed me. Have a nice day!

It was a bit awkward with me. You see my parents had split up at the time and I decided to live with my dad and because he was working a lot my brother and I had to go to a childminder. Unfortunately I started mine at the childminders. I was like OMG, what am I going to do? I couldn't tell my childminder because how embarrassing would that be and I didn't have any pads on me. Luckily five or ten minutes after I found out I had started, my nanna was picking up my brother and I so when we got home I told her. My nanna told my dad which I was glad about because I would have been to embarrassed about telling him and I told my mum the next time I saw her. I was glad how it went over with my dad and he goes to by me pads and stuff all the time. It doesn't bother him, which is cool.

Gah, I fainted on the toilet.
Then when My head hit the side of the tub I woke up.
Then I went to go get my mom and she was in the kitchen
with my sister, I told her that I had to talk to her so when we
went in the other room SHE (Not me) Said "Omg, you started
didn't you?" I don't know how she knew. It's weird.

I stared at my underwear, said "Huh," and went and called my mom and asked her if I could get out of school, and had my grandma show me how to use a pad.

I went to the bathroom and noticed i had started. I called for my mom and she came in and i told her and i started crying. She told me it was ok and that i was becoming a woman. It was actually a very special day because we were going to a butterfly house that day and it was like how caterpillars turn into butterflies and i was turning into a woman. My mom bought me a charm with a butterfly on it to remember that day and the special experience we had.

Your mom went through the same thing, so its no big deal to tell her since all girls go through it.
Mine went like this, at home:
"MOM, I got my period"
"OK, do you need any pads?"
"Not yet!"
"OK we'll go get some later"
"OK!"
