There are many things that can happen in a buckoff causing back pain.
Compressed vertebrae
Pinched Nerve
Pinched Nerve causing Sciatica
Muscle Strain
Bruising
many many more.
If you knew how many buckoffs I see a year that do have something major wrong with them, you would be wise to get yourself into the doctor. At 13, the longer you wait, the more that can go wrong if there is something serious.
There is no magical cure to make back pain subside or go away. I hope that there truely isn't anything wrong like I listed above, but with out my xray machine over top of you, we really have no idea and can't diagnose.
You need to see a doctor.

Hi, sympathies on the bad back, I know how much that sucks. If your mum is a Doc, the she will be the best person to advise you.
General tips though, Ibroprufen is good for backs, because it helps pain and swelling. Ice is good, but only ice for twenty minutes, then off for an hour.
Rest is good in the early stages, and by rest I mean flat, not sitting as that causes stress on your lower back, even when you sit right. Walking is good if it doesn't hurt, I've always been told if hurts to walk, then don't just rest. Avoid twisting and bending for a while.
The good news is that the more painful it is the more likely it is to be muscle problems, and they go away with time.
The bad news is, there could be some more serious damage. Take it from someone who 'didn't want to make a fuss' and thought that everything would heal. I've now lived with nearly 30 years of back pain, partly because I never got things looked at early enough.
It never hurts to get everything checked out. Good lck, and I hope you are better soon

Getting thrown from a horse can deffinately do a number on your back, and can also be a contributing factor to your back hurting now. It might not have hurt then because you may not have noticed the injury right away due to the shock of being thrown.
Back injuries due to horses also depends a lot on how you hit the ground. If you do like I do and normally land on your head, face, back, or butt, then yes, your fall probably did do a number on your back.
I would suggest getting in to see your chiropractor as soon as possible. More than likely you popped something out place and need an adjustment.

First you are in a serious state of denial. You say she bucks but is not dangerous and you want her to get over bucking before you get hurt. Which is it? Bucking is definitely dangerous. She may not be aggressive as such but she is dangerous. Then you go on to say she loves riding. A bucking horse does not love riding. She is trying to get you off. Other than that Mule Reiner had some good advice. I will add the suggestion of a long shanked bit to give you the leverage to keep the horses head up, but will probably get thumbed down for it. You do want to stop a horse from bucking when they start. This is done by hauling back on the reins so they can not throw their head down. Without lowering its head a horse can not buck hard (they can still buck but not hard). Then drop a rein and pull back on the other until the nose of the horse is about touching your knee (the one rein stop, it helps to have reins connected in the center). If you check saddle fit and make sure it is not a pain issue then stop worrying about the horse and save your worry forn yourself. This horse need to be taught that bucking does not give it what it wants.

if your mom is a doctor ask her about whats called a transverse process fracture. its an easy to miss break and causes a lot of pain that just wont go away and it can happen from a fall where you land on your butt or hip (compression). the break is most common in the L1-3 and thorasic vertebra. it wont harm you or anything but it hurts like no tomorrow and will hurt for quiet a while. you may need a ct scan to verify the break as it is often missed on xrays. most of all if it hurts that bad-PERSIST! if it does not feel "right" keep on asking. my break was initally missed on 1 mri, 1 ct, and a set of xrays..it took me throwing a fit over the pain to get a second ct where the breaks were finally found. its been 3 1/2 months and i am still in pain.
do not go to a chiropractor until the possiblity of a break has been ruled out!

Go to a chiropractor if you can- they work wonders. I messed up my lower back bad from falling off horses so many times ( I save my head, but always land on my right hip). My pelvis was off 15 cm from normal, and they pushed it back to about 5 cm off of normal before insurance ran out (2 times a week, 3 months)
If your bones are really out of align (x-rays can show) a chiropractor can work wonders.
While it wasn't perfect and was still sore, within 2 appointments I could walk upright again, and sit in a chair (which I couldn't do after the last accident before the chiropractor).

Your mother is a doctor??? Why has she not brought you to the hospital for x-rays? You really need to have this checked out. You could have fractured something in your back or pelvis. Injuries like this need to be treated right away, or else they will have worse long-term effects! I fractured my tailbone in 3 spots and did not go to the doctor right away and still have pain all the time. Please, call off work and take care of yourself! I'm sure the people at the barn will appreciate the effort, but want you to get better!

I agree you should go to a doctor and have it x-rayed or CAT scanned if necessary. You could even have a hairline fracture; I know of a young rider this happened to and she went for quite a while before it was discovered. I'm not saying this to scare you or anyone in a similar situation, just to underline the need to have it evaluated since it is so painful.
As far as pain goes, if you live where there are people who practice acupuncture it can give great relief from pain.

Ouch. You should have taken iBuprofen. That is best for a back injury. All I can say is lay down for a few weeks. That is like the only way it will get better. i remember once I fell off my horse and landed on my arm. I could not move my arm AT ALL or else it would hurt so bad I'd scream and cry. lol Hope you feel better =) Also, good choice to ice it. Also when it stops hurting, stretch it.
