G gundam...all the way. Sure Transformers are cool but the Gundams were built solely for combat... The Transformers just happen to be able to fight...

Transformers.

Transformers are a machine intelligence designed to operate in a wide range of circumstances. They have huge numbers and are capable of different modes. More importantly they have machine fast reflexes.

Gundam are human controlled, yes it is by the 'new type humans' with an improved genetic code and better reflexes, but they still have slower reflexes. Gundam weapons do then to be stronger than Transformer weapons, but there is an entire planet (Cybertron) and several more (the Junk planet, the home of the Sharkacons etc.) Gundam are only found on Earth, the moon and the Space Stations (Sides) orbiting earth.

Transformers operate off of ANY power source converting it directly into energon. Thanks to the N-Jammer technology of the Zodiac Alliance nuclear power is very limited as is radio and radar technology. They must operate off of battery power or switch off the N-Jammer field.

Transformers have stored energon which can be created directly from any source of power, so they can operate for longer periods.

A possible Transformer vs. Gundam war would be a bloody one with many Transformer deaths, especially the non-combat orientated models like Bumble Bee or Preceptor. But the combat models like Starscream, Soundwave (and his tapes), Iron Hide, and the Destructacons would score high casualties among the Gundam. Gundam are expensive and hard to make, Transformers somehow make themselves (robotic sex has never been discussed). The Transformers have more soldiers, provided they can unite the Deceptacons and Autobots and Independents.

It would be a close battle with many Transformers killed, but the Gundam are limited and would lose. Due to the nature of the Autobot and Deceptacon war though I think the Autobots would team up with the Gundam and attack the Deceptacons. In that case the Autobots might finally get the edge they need to win. The Deceptacons are more combative and just as numerous, but they don’t work well together (it’s the nature of their organization).

The deciding factors would be if you would allow Unicron or Cybertron into the battle. Alone one of those Transformers could destroy Earth. Unicron was an eater or worlds just as bad as Marvel’s Galactis. He was only defeated from within (literally) and by attacking his brain. Gundam pilots would look for a pilot and wouldn’t think of machine intelligence or machine autoimmune systems, even if they penetrated the hide of Unicron or Cybertron the Gundams would be destroyed by the internal defense systems.

(you didn’t specify which series of Transformers, but you limited the Gundam to only Gundam-G, however even if you opened it up to ALL Gundam, the Transformers simply out number them and would win.)
