"Owning my own franchise" is a huge ambiguity. Do you want to be a franchisor of a franchisee?

That depends on a lot of things.

If that franchise is the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League, you can expect to lose millions.

If that franchise is a McDonalds located in a town without a McDonalds, you can make tens of thousands of dollars a year (depending on your business model for the franchise).

You need to be more specific about what the franchise is and will be.

It depends on the situation, what company? I recommand owning a franchise over being a sole trader.
