Even before they passed the equal pay law, women already made more for the same work. They used statistics to distort the truth. George Gilder in his book "Wealth & Poverty" shows the governments own statictics which prove that when comparing any, identical in other respects, male & female group with equal education & equal time in the profession, that the females make more. The statistics are misleading because the feminists are comparing all males & all females without considering education & length of employment.

At one time it was legal to pay a woman less, deny them raises and deny them promotions. It was also legal to layoff a woman with better credentials while allowing a less capable man to retain his employment. It was the feminists who got the laws passed to make these practices illegal. That was a good 30 - 40 years ago.
Because something is illegal doesn't mean it never happens. Stealing is illegal but people get arested for it all the time.
As for equal pay, Walmart was recently sued for denying opportunities to female employees. There was statistical data that showed females employess with the same experience and work records were not getting promotions at the same rate as male employees. Walmart said the problem was isolated to a few bad managers hiring their buddies at a few stores. Its the feminists of 30 years ago who got the laws passed so that people would have legal recourse when necessary.

They still complain because it is still a problem. I think we all need to realize that the world isn’t, never was, and never shall be a FAIR playing ground. The best you can do is play to your strengths and take full advantage of the opportunities we have before us. That doesn’t mean accepting bad behavior, but to rather understand our role and limitations. I love the idea they open the doors up for women to get into certain professions, but the majority of the women can not perform specific jobs and that’s is just a reality. Now before you jump all over me, not all men can perform those jobs either. It all goes back to life just not being fair. Everyone is not created equal, but there are no boundaries based on race or sex that covers everything either. Just accept the fact that life isn’t fair and make the best of things. Now as far as men being paid more for the same job, well I am certain that is still the case and I am sure that is a valid complaint and that is why they feminist are still complaining. I have no idea how women have worked themselves into a minority group all on their own, but at least in the US they have a clear and distinct advantage to make up huge chucks of ground in short periods of time.

Robbing Banks is illegal too but it doesnt mean it never happens. There are still alot of managers and business owners out there that value men more than women. This is partially because of what was traditionally expected from women and partially because there are some women that fit the stereotypical incapable woman. The reason some feminists complain is, although it is not as bad as it was, it still happens way too often in todays society.

Although what you've described happens, what I think is more of a problem is one-sided complaining. Most of the things that women complain about men have a counterpart (not necessarily a cause) that offsets the validity of the complaint.

It may well be illegal to pay people differently according to their gender. However, in fact plenty of organisations manage to ignore this legislation.
This is one reason why feminists (and other people concerned about our rights) continue to complain.
We are all familiar with the findings of 'institutional racism' in certain organisations; well, 'institutional sexism' is at least as prevalent. If nobody raises the issue, nothing will ever change.

So since there is a law against it, it doesn't happen?
Murder is against the law too. So what?
Do you know the ratio of male CEO's to female CEO's? Would that indicate equality of opportunity? Would you say as many women as men are being put into high-visibility, more lucrative positions within an organization?

I honestly don't know about the equal pay thing, but I do feel that a lot of "crusaders" fight to keep their cause alive, even if they have to get nit-picky or just outright manufacture "injustices" because their crusader role has become their identity and they have no real life outside of it.

Because like all laws there are loopholes, and employers not all of them some pay equitably accross the board.
But when you are in HR and hear your superiors looking for a receptionist and they are allowed to start her at minimum and would like to keep her there as long as they can they usually come out with "look for someone who looks hungry" meaning needs a job so bad that she will not bicker the starting rate. Yes this still occurs today.
It is up to us not to settle but to demand what is rightfully ours, no griping here.

Legal or illegal, women on average still make less money than men, about 75 cents for each dollar, last time I saw a statistic.
The interesting thing is that, if you compare similar jobs, women make about the same as their male peers, the disparity shows when you compare the average working woman with the average workign man.
