He'll sleep longer at night when his body is ready to. Rice cereal should not be introduced until minimum 4 mos, preferably 6 mos, unless otherwise instructed by a doctor.
This is part of being a parent to a baby...sorry, it comes with the territory.

If your son is less than 6 months old you shouldn't be trying to get him to sleep through the night. Some babies, can, but some babies can't...
If he is older than you can try oatmeal cereal before his night time bottle (never in the bottle!) Mix the oatmeal with juice because it will taste better and it will help prevent constipation. Also warm it up a little bit... Do this about 1/2 hour before his bedtime bottle. This isn't a sure fire way, but its a good try.
Really some babies just don't sleep through the night, so don't force him. Especially if he is going through a growth spurt, he is extra hungry.

My son ate up the strawberry flavored oatmeal. Just add a little water to thin it some. Don't ever put it in a cereal feeder at bedtime. Alot of moms do this and it is a horrible choking hazard and causes teeth to decay if they are already in or when they come in. Don't take that the wrong way, judging from the way women say they do that, apparently they don't know. Anyway, you can get a box of different flavored oatmeals at the grocery store in the adult foods, not the baby, and they are healthy for him. Good luck!
Also, my son was small when he started eating this. Just thin it some with water or his formula or milk. He started sleeping through the night the first time he ate this because he was full and content. Just make sure he burps, so his tummy won't be upset.

I'm not sure how old your baby is but feeding him food before bed does not mean they'll sleep longer. They're now saying you shouldn't feed your baby solids until they are 6 months old - at that age your baby may be sleeping longer. My daughter is 8 1/2 months old and still wakes maybe twice a night, she's teething now so she's waking more - she's on solids and the only time it's helped her sleep longer was when I pureed beans and chicken and gave that to her for dinner, that night she did sleep a couple hours longer than normal.
If you're baby is really young feeding him solids most likely will not make him sleep longer. Make sure his room is dark, I put light music on in my daughter's room to mask the noise we make. You could try swaddling him, my daughter hated that but I know some mom's swear that it helps their baby sleep better.
Hang in there, as your baby gets older he will start sleeping longer periods.

That's a myth... That giving a baby solids or rice cereal will make him/her sleep through the night.. For the most part most babies will get up a couple times at night.. Try changing his/her nap scedule. Do not allow naps too close to bedtime.. Try giving a soothing warm bath and lotion massage at night. Dim the lights and have quiet time BEFORE bedtime.. This helps babies and adults wind down and have a more restful sleep. Good luck

It does matter about the age of the baby. If he's too little, it could give him a tummy ache. I would experiment with the amounts too. Too much cereal would probably give him stomach distress. Also, you might try another kind and see if that makes a difference.

How old is he? His gi system may not be ready for solids. I am sorry, but babies wake up every 2 to 4 hours. Talk to your pediatrition.
