A friend of mine just tried to commit suicide by taking a lot of pills (Zanax) and now she is in the hospital. My mother and sister just went to visit her but I haven't gone yet. I do know her through my sister, and she wasn't my friend first, but I do consider her a friend who is close to my heart. I don't know what to do in terms of visiting her or what to say when I see her. Or what to say to her mother. It's an akward situation and I've been in her place before, wanting to die and not succeeding at it, and I also know how akward it is to have visitors in the hospital.

Be by her side..talk about what happened, or just be there for her. Make her see, that you're there for her...it might be a big help for her.
Oh and if you can...try to make her smile sometimes, or even laugh if it's possible in such a situation...
Visit her often...do what friends can the do the best in these times..be there for her..

because you have been in her place before, wanting to die and not succeeding at it, you are the best person to talk to her in the hospital but try to pick a time when it will be just the two of you and tell her that you have been there and done that. Tell her how you got past that and then support her as she does. Once you get past this, you will have one of those special friendships that many close friends never do get. Good luck to you both.

talk to them as much as u can but don't smuther them too much tell them that they have a lot to live for and what ever they r going threw that you both can work it out together.
