I have, for two years I couldn't face writing until something special happened. I just finised writing a poem, that for one person, would never have been written.
I love to write these lovely words,
They tend to paint my life.
I do not wish to end it all,
With gun or rope or knife.
When I was ten, or maybe nine,
I wrote a simple verse.
I knew that it was not much good,
But it was just my first.
On and on I wrote these words,
I'd show them to my friends.
But they all seemed to cut me down,
And never make amends.
I thought I must not be so good,
That's why they would jeer so.
And soon when I would want to write,
My mind would tell me no.
Don't write another of these things,
They'll only laugh and joke.
I'd sit and cry, and wish they all.
Would just shut up and choke.
For two long years I thus endured,
I wrote not one small thing.
I thought perhaps if I wrote one,
My heart would once more sing.

A friend had said she saw a poem,
Was on the internet.
I though for fun I'd go and see,
To find some relief yet.
The words I found have touched my heart,
I've memorized them all.
Imagine how I had to feel,
I then felt ten feet tall.
The website is no longer there,
The pages went away.
I kept these poems in my heart.
Just for a special day.
I joined the group that we are on,
One day I saw a post.
I felt as though my heart would burst,
As though I'd seen a ghost.
The poem there I knew by heart,
I didn't have to read.
The words flowed from my scarlet lips,
As wind comes in from sea.
I looked to see just who it was,
The one who made me fight.
The inspiration to my heart,
That made me want to write.
He never knew just what he'd done,
By writing rhymes so sweet.
He saved me from two years of hell,
It was an awesome feat.
So here he is, the man of whom,
I'll probably never meet.
All the poems that I write,
I'll lay down at his feet.

Thank you kind sir, for all you've done,
Someday I'll try the same.
I'll tell to those who do not know.
That Dondi is your name.

I just read your answer this morning to my question of peer pressure. It was awesome. Now this! I had no idea anyone else ever visited those pages. The domain dissolved, and I lost most of the stuff on there, but I started rebuilding it on geocities, and am at present looking at perhaps creating my own domain, and rebuilding it there, along with perhaps some interactivity for poetry. But it won't be fancy. Not sure yet. I am quite amazed that you actually memorized the stuff on that old web page, but I am pleased if it in any way started you back to writing. Judging by what I see here, you are quite good at it. You used ny favorite style here too. Love it.

It's amazing and so heartfelt. I have been writing since I was about 9 I think, on and off, I have a lot of times when I just can't do it, and I give up wondering whether it is really worth it, feeling like I am not as good as the next person, so why try at all. I always see something and say I could nopt do it better because it has touched me so deeply, when all the words I could use are already taken, and my boundaries are so limited with what I can create, so glad u found the inspiration to keep going, because ur doing a great job

Do you believe in Mythic powers if so quit writing, because so far it has been misinterpreted that all the great writers around the world have the in born talent, this is scrap because nothing comes in born everything comes with practice but the things related art & Literature have to be done with passion. the more passion you have towards the subject that you are writing about more illustratively you will be able to write. All the Best Keep writing

This is a touching story! Well, I never did show any of my poems to anyone but my family, until I came here. Most of my friends don't even like reading poetry. So I guess I never really got jeered at by anyone. But my poems currently don't have much meaning - just the literal kinds. I'm trying to go more in depth.

yes,, I write alot of song lyrics .. sometimes my brain gets so drained out from all the writting it's like I have nothing left to give..
so I'll just give up for an ammount of time,,
but with all these new songs coming out these days just listening to the words and fully being able to understand and relate to ,it has a deep impact on me as it motivates me to just get that pen back out and keep writting
I read your poem it's great!! very touching, keep it up!

Ask Dondi about time he rescued 11 kittens from a burning building. He loves to tell that story.

I write stories, not poetry, but yes, I have given up for periods of time. It's fun to get back to it though, after the hiatus.
