Not comparable.

People in the U.S. had to do business, as a colony, with England, much trade was banned from our capabilities and as a legal means to increase economics for the colonies.

Great Britain was notorious for cheating on our imports. High grade tobacco was graded lower than the quality that was shipped, and, the weight was lowered by importers in Great Britain. Routinely, colonists lost as much as 25 - 35% of money's due because of this routine practice.

In addition, Americans received substandard goods. George Washington, as an example, sent a kingly amount of money to England to purchase a carriage. About $125,000.00 in today's currency. What he received was a broken down old carriage with rotted wood and rusty fastenings. This enraged him, and, as time marched on, similar practices enraged enough colonists to seek seperating from England.

The Boston tea party was NOT a raid against paying taxes... it was about not having representation in the government they were paying into.
