Why do feminists who cannot answer a question resort to name-calling (like "troll") or other abusiveness?

Some repliers here have avoided the question and instead resorted to the typically feministic tactic of abuse. Expected, so not overly surprised.

Dani - Thank you. This question is not intended to relate to any specific questions or answers. It is based on what I have *consistently* observed on this forum.

That's their ultimate defense mechanism. Another good example is the poster who was ranting about you being more specific; another defense mechanism. One would think with this place being called Gender & Women's Studies the word troll should be abolished, no matter how the person posts their posts; they do wrong let the higher ups deal with them. As for me I have nothing to say about the abuse cause I abuse right back.

Calling someone a troll is not an insult. It is NOT an opinion. Only OPINIONATED names can be insulting: "You are a jerk." That's an opinion. Not everybody considers that person a jerk.
But a troll can be measured by certain rules. So you are either a troll or you are not. You can defend yourself if you are not a troll.
If you bait a hook to attract a certain target just to catch (anger) them, then you are a troll.
If they refuse to take the bait because they see the hook then they are just smart.
However. As I said, if you do NOT in fact bait a hook to catch a specific target, then you are not a troll.
Why they would call you a Troll if you are not is because there are so many trolls out there. They get caught up in the argument and stop thinking clearly. They assume you are just like everybody else so they react the same way they do with everybody else.
The key is to come across very sincerely and to not create a reputation as a troll.
If you want to troll with success, then you need to bait the hook extremely well so they cannot see the hook. Not that I do it understand.

It's not just femenists, many people resort to verbal violence when confronted with a question they can't answer. People want to be right, it's scary to think that you may be wrong about something important and takes a brave person to admit when they are stumped or have been proven wrong. Sometimes when this happens people react by becoming angry and lashing out. It's an animallistic but natural form of self-preservation - Like children who don't agree, so one pushes the other in the mud so she can still win.

Give examples. You want me to answer your question, you have to prove that your question is valid in the first place. I know that this is not something that I do, and I haven't seen a whole lot of that from feminists on this board. If you have, show me some links that show that this is a widespread problem and not just one or two bad apples.

Were you trolling?
I mean, if you were asking an inflammatory question with the intent of making people angry, that's trolling. In such a case, you would be a troll. They might have just been pointing out the obvious and been reluctant to let you prod them into an argument.

Could you be more specific? I would have to see the actual question(s) and answer(s) to be able to hazard a guess.
Although, technically at this point I cannot answer this question without further information, so should I be calling you a troll and abusing you at this point? Let me know...

Women act on emotion. It seems like now in society, with all these single mothers, everyone wants to be a lesbian. I enjoy obeying my husband and keeping my mouth shut! I think it's just their hormones. =P Overbearing bitches.

I don't know the context, so I might be way off base, but I'd be willing to bet that they very well -could- answer your question, but were offended by it and refused to dignify it with a response.
Basically, they felt insulted, so they insulted you in return.

Not knowing specifically what you are discussing with feminists, the following is usually true:
"Show me a person who resorts to personal attack, and I'll show you a person who is losing his or her argument."

Not sure - If the question is offensive, most any group would respond with a defensive stance. And... if the question is perceived to be filled with hate, the response will be filled with hate.
