One friend says yes...because we are civilized and thats what we are supposed to do as an unwritten contract with each other. My other friend says "no!!!" very emphatically. He says "God gave me two eyes and a brain, why should I let a brainless machine tell me what to do". What would you do? Why?

It is just a matter of following all safety laws to obtain a good driving habit. If you burn this into your subconscious, then it becomes very easy to do without having to think about it and therefore never becomes an issue of aggravation for the driver (overall anyways). Most vehicle accidents don't occur from "pure accidents" but rather bad driving habits.

if no ones there just drive through it who honestly cares. neither of those answers above though are very good.saying "why should i let a brainless machine tell me what to do" would also imply that he shouldnt listen to a traffic stop when theres traffic as well. and hopefully youre friend doesnt have a license because hes probably causing lots of accidents.

my reasoning on why you should do it goes like this. no one sees you so just do it! and most importantly you should be going at least 15 over the speed limit.

You stop. Its always the one you don't see or hear that kills you or puts you in hospital.

It is not the machine telling you what to do. It is the collective knowledge, experience, training, authority, and wisdom of all those who programmed the machine on the basis of known facts, and placed it at that location, telling you what to do.
It is people who are stupid.......not machines.

I follow the rules of the road. With these days of cameras everywhere, I do not chance a moving violation lightly. You never know who you missed approaching-- it is foolish to get into such a bad habit.
