BFP then BFN, both with FRER?

Question

I had an HCG shot on 9/24 and a double IUI on 9/25 and 9/26. I tested on 10/1 and 10/2 just to ensure that the HCG was no longer in my system. Both tests were negative.

Yesterday, I tested at 10:00 AM and got a faint BFP with FRER. But, I had several tests out, one of which I had used the day before that I forgot to toss out (it was a negative result). I used that test thinking it was the new one I had just opened. This is when I got the faint BFP.

I tested 2 more times yesterday and one time this morning, all with FRER, and all BFN. I had my blood drawn this morning for a quantitive beta HCG test so I will know for sure this afternoon.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

But, why would the line show up if the hormone was not present?

You have to assume the test you accidentally used twice was neg. I hope you get your BFP on the blood test, good luck and loads of Baby Dust!!!!
