Your question is a little unclear, but i will try it
so i think you mean
(s)^3+(2s)^2 +2s
s= -3
so
(-3^3+(2(-3))^2 +2(-3)
-3 cubes = -27
so
2s^2 = 2(-3)= -6^2= 36
(-27 + 36 + 2s)
2(-3)= -6
(--27 + 36 - 6)= -3
Or you might have meant
s^3+2s^2+2s
-3^3 + 2(-3)^2 + 2(-3)
s^3= -3^3= -27= (-3* -3* -3)
(2)(s)^2 = 2(9)= 18
2(s)= -6
-27+18-6= -15

-3 cubed = -27
-3 squared = 9
-27+2*9+2(-3) = -27+18-6 = -15

I also got -15:
(-3)cube+2(-3)squared+2(-3)
= -27 + 2(9) -6
= -27 + 18 - 6
= -9-6
= -15 thats all.

I tried to determine how you might have gotten zero. You must have made an error in multiplication.
s^3+2s^2+2s (with s = -3)
=
(-3)^3+2*(-3)^2+2*(-3)
=
-27 + 18 - 6
=
-15

This time the text book is right :)
(-3*-3*-3) + 2(-3*-3) + 2(-3)
(9*-3) + 2(9) + -6
-27+18-6
-33+18
= -15

s cubed = -27
2 s squared = 18
s = -3
So, -27 +18 - 3 = -12

PLEASE USE carats s^3+s^2+2s =?
If s is negative, s^3 will be negative and 2s will be negative.
Now try your substitutions
