i bought an HP laptop that had originally came with windows vista and i was wondering y would this happen on my laptop but not to my desktop i had bought the Windows xp CD from the store the next day because i didn't like windows vista and then i put in the Windows xp CD to reformat my computer and i know how to reformat my computer but it tells me that (Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Then it says setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3. Can Ne1 help i would really appreciate it and give u a lot of props THANK YOU!!!! and please try making it easy steps, step by step would be really helpful once again THANK YOU !!!!

If it says that it can not find any disk drives, you need to call HP and tell them that you bought a laptop with windows vista. You got a windows Xp disk and it did not work. It said that it couldnot find any drives. Every computer should have a drive. Hope I was help.

I had the same problem on my HP laptop. There should be a setting in BIOS to set SATA native support off. This will allow XP to detect the hard drive. You will have a minimal performance hit but everything will work just fine. DO NOT TURN IT BACK ON AFTER INSTALLATION, it will cause XP to become unbootable.

Unless your laptop has a floppy drive, you are snookered.
Getting XP on this will be more than tricky, as you will need the SATA-Raid drivers during install, without it, it wont see the hard drive, hence your error message.
You only other other is to slip the SATA drivers into your XP CD
