If it says that it can not find any disk drives, you need to call HP and tell them that you bought a laptop with windows vista. You got a windows Xp disk and it did not work. It said that it couldnot find any drives. Every computer should have a drive. Hope I was help.

I had the same problem on my HP laptop. There should be a setting in BIOS to set SATA native support off. This will allow XP to detect the hard drive. You will have a minimal performance hit but everything will work just fine. DO NOT TURN IT BACK ON AFTER INSTALLATION, it will cause XP to become unbootable.

i might somewhat touch HP. they'd have been asked this question a million cases and via now they're going to have an answer. it may be that the dirve has be locked via the recent Vista Bitlocker function. it may additionally be that the force isn't totally put in and heavily isn't until eventually you develop Vista thoroughly. The reproduction of XP you purchased won't have the HP-particular help utilities that are put in and configured on your Vista build (created via HP). it is not hassle-free to rebuild the main suitable image your self--it may take countless days to end and you may in no way get it a hundred% maximum suitable. hth

Unless your laptop has a floppy drive, you are snookered.

Getting XP on this will be more than tricky, as you will need the SATA-Raid drivers during install, without it, it wont see the hard drive, hence your error message.

You only other other is to slip the SATA drivers into your XP CD
