A few men, maybe one in 50, can stay erect after climax, but most normal men go soft for at least a few minutes to recharge, no matter how excited or aroused they feel, before they can regain an erection. This is known as the "refractory period" and is a well known characteristic of the way a guy's plumbing normally behaves.
