Most DVD drives will allow you to change the region code, however, you're limited to a certain number of times before the region code becomes locked.

However, there are several software solutions that will effectively bypass the region coding on DVDs, essentially turning any DVD you insert in your drive into a "Region 0" DVD.

A Google search of "remove dvd region code" will turn up a huge list of results. Personally, I use AnyDVD to watch non-Region 1 DVDs in the United States (http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html ), and have been perfectly happy with it.
