It is not possible to reload XP without the CD. What problem are you having? Doing a system restore will restore your PC to a day when all was working. If you do a system restore, do it in safe mode and use a system scheduled checkpoint.

Nope, you need the CD, UNLESS there is a "restore partition" on the hard drive (Ask PC manufacturer for guidance using it)
As long as you have the licnece, "borrow" a CD, using someones media to install on your own licence is legal. installing someone elses licnece on your PC is NOT !
