i'm 18 yrs old....just graudated from high school in may....well i work part time at wal-mart.....i absolutely hate working there....it really sucks......the employees there get treated like s.h.i.t........nobody's friendly, they kinda look and treat u like a outcast....they also kinda always look at u suspiciously.....get what i'm saying....anyways, it wouldn't be half as bad if the managers were nicer.......they are sooo rude and mean......and they are always yelling at the employees and me too....i always end up working alone and by myself in my department, when you usually are supposed to have two people in at least every department....because of this, i often get "overworked"....i have to handle the whole department by myself and i still get yelled at by the department manager....she doesn't even acknowledge that i am working my butt off, trying to manage the department....she doesn't even appreciate anything i do...no matter how much i try, i still get yelled at...why ???

Can you make a complaint against her, go above her head and see if anything can be done...but if you are really unhappy you should find another job, best of luck...=-)

Look for a different job first off. Even cashiering at a convenience store or waiting tables would be better than what you've got going on. If you worked for a reputable company, I'd say go to your H.R manager about it, but Wal-mart is known for treating it's employess like crap. Practically seems to be a requirement for management! You won't get any help there.
When you get your new job, tell them you can't start for two weeks, because you have to put in notice at your old job. They will like that, cause it tells them you probably won't just up and quit on them! Then do it. You don't have to tell Wal-mart why you are resigning. Just do it properly so if you ever really need a job, you could go back there. Never burn your bridges behind you, if you can help it!
When the new potential employer asks why you are looking for a new job, don't belly-ache about how mean your boss is, or something like that. Makes you sound like a whiner. Say the schedule doesn't agree with you, you don't really care for retail (unless it's another retail position), you are hoping for a shorter commute, or more (or fewer) hours per week. Anything that isn't bad-mouthing your former employer. That tells them when you no longer work for them, you aren't going to go around bad-mouthing them! Rehearse your explanation so it flows as if you are stating the truth.
Next thing, next semester enroll in your community college. If you don't, this is how the rest of your life is going to go! I didn't go to college when I had the chance, and I've regretted it ever since! I've been working crappy little minimum wage jobs, with no respect, no future, and no hope for over 20 years, and it sucks! I came from a well-off family, I didn't know how hard life would be.
Used to be, if you were a dependable, hardworking employee, you could "work your way up" in a company. It isn't that way anymore. The good jobs go to people who have a piece of paper in their hand saying they can do the job, no matter how dumb or shiftless they may be. You have to get that piece of paper!
Doesn't matter whether you know what you want to do or not. You can get all your remedial/general studies out of the way while you decide. There is plenty of financial aid available to help you pay for it. There is no reason why anyone can't go to college if they have the desire.
If you like retail, go to your local business college and take a business management course. When you're done, you could go back to Wal-mart as a manager over all the people who've made your life miserable! How sweet is that?
Sorry so long, but I hate to see kids fresh out of high school throwing their life away! Life isn't easy, but it can be fun if you prepare for it! Please, get some college under your belt. It's the only way to get ahead.

If you want to stay in retail work & are such a good worker, put your application & resume in at different stores to find one that will help you grow - possibly even give you tuition money to continue your education in a retail related field. (Go on-line & check the websites of other retailers in your area to see what they offer employees, if there are any current job opening, etc.)

If you don't change how you're handling something, then the same thing will continue to happen. You can't change anyone else. The only person you can change is yourself. So, either find a way to put up with your current circumstances or make a change.

"Wal-Mart" is supposed to be a 'friendly' place isn't it; I mean they have "Greeters" at the door...! And those annoying 'smiley faces' on the commercials...! Personally I HATE (With a capital 'H'), that place...!!!!
Sounds like your 'Boss' has a 'Superiority Complex'...!!!
Write to the 'Head Office'!!! You shouldn't be expected to work under those conditions!
If you're worried about losing your job (as a result of 'complaining'), get your co-workers to sign a letter explaining what's going on at your store (like a petition), I'm sure there are a LOT of other people 'p!$$ed off'.... Time for HER to "get yelled at"...!!!
Good luck!

P.S. -My sucker (I mean 'brother') is a Manager at a Wal-Mart (Canada); HE WOULDN'T "yell" at you.....! ;)

First try talking to her, if not, then go over her head to try to resolve it. If not, quit & find a better job where all your hard work is appreciated & acknowledged. Good luck!!~~
