Right in the center just make a giant "Talent Show 2007" or "Fall Follies 2007" You can get a real inexpensive drop cloth that looks like papr bag material from the hardware store, use tempura paint then outline it with glue and glitter. For accenting, just make similar colored giant leaves, fall colors. Yellow, brown, reddish brown and sponge paint them and outline those with glue and glitter as well.

Ah, the best kind of theme is one that will relate to the most people - something current and recognizable. How about:
Highspray (instead of hairspray a popular movie right now.)
You could use big cut outs of hairspray cans. combs, etc with the names of your acts on them....USE something popular that people will respond to. If you are using Fall Follies the obvious are leave, gourds etc...cheap and readily available...get leaves from outside, spray with spray that makestem shiney, stable together...they make great garland. Make sure the leaves are not too dried out....Good luck
