For instance, on the issue; gun control. The list would then have all the candidates and briefly describe all their postions on gun control; so you could compare them all at once on the same issue.

No complete list will ever exist. Even the groups that TRY to assemble such lists rarely receive responses from more than half the candidates. If you have specific issues in mind, look for an organization that is concerned with that issue. For example, you mentioned gun control. The NRA and the Brady Campaign both rate candidate on the issue. Because these groups take opposing positions on gun control, anything they agree on is most likely true.

If you are really concerned then you might want to get it from a source as close to the candidate as possible. the major news companies (npr, fox, cnn, bbc, cbs, nbc...) would have lists of candidtates from the parties, but you might want to get their views on subjects from their own websites. it will prevent misconceptions and lies from being given to you as truths. the candidates have more control over how info is presented on their sites and plus, you could ask their staff via the "contact" part of the sites.
good luck in sorting out whats what, and remember their view today might not be the same as yesterday. and thats not necissarily a bad thing.

On the Issues website comes close. You have to work your way through candidate by candidate, but each candidates views are grouped by general issue.
