we have an old homeless man in our neighborhood and every time i ride my back past the park on the way to the library, he's sleeping on the bench under the flower canopy. is that what homeless people do all day? just sleep?

for a short time i was homeless. my house burnt down and no insurance . anyway no the people dont sleep all day .
the fact is that the person or people are very tired most of the time because of the dangers of being homeless.
i stayed in the out of the cold programs that is just sleep in a church basement on a very thin matt all people on floor no pillows sleep hopefully then up and out no shower nothing.
next time you see this homeless man how about giving him 20 bucks . the truth is that no one wants to be homeless. the truth is that the people are not all drunks or hooked on drugs.
there are many people that have a serious disability most often mental illness. some other kinds of illness . when i was on the street 20 dollars would have been like a million dollars. so do as God taught us feed the poor care for them and help them .

Everyone wants to volunteer to feed people on Thanksgiving. There's so many people wanting to volunteer that there isn't work for all of them. Then they go back to their lives and there aren't enough people to dole out soup to the homeless the next day. Volunteering on Thanksgiving only makes you feel good. I suggest that you let a local family host you for dinner at their home on Thanksgiving Day. If you're a soldier, then you deserve some thanks yourself. There should be something on your base that will let you sign up to eat dinner with someone. Then you can go feed the homeless. Be a regular volunteer that shows up every week to work. That's what the homeless need.

They look for their next meal, try to get some means of money.
Many homeless people are mentally ill, some of them don't really know what they are doing.
They are just surviving.
When you are homeless I imagine that sleep is the only escape you have from the situation. Also, they may sleep all day and scavenge at night.

They probably sleep all day because the night is dangerous, losers who pick on them and beat them up at the night, and they ask for change. But in most cases, all homeless people did it to them selfs, they said yes to booze and drugs, or went to jail for something, so they want us to pay for their mistakes.

They sleep in the day time because it is too dangerous to sleep during the night - and because they have to stay up at night to protect their stuff.
