Yes. As of January 1, 2007, any individuals 16 years or older who want to recreationally finfish in any water designated as coastal or joint waters of North Carolina must purchase a NC Coastal Recreational Fishing License (CRFL)

Most states don't require a fishing license for ocean fishing, only fresh water. You'd have to check with the NC dept of fish and game.
Out of state licenses are temporary, you pick it up when you get there. You can get an non-resident license for just a week period.

I don't know about there but here you need one if you are 12 and older, and yes, you do need a license to fish out of state. You can get a temporary one so they are not as expensive though. You should be able to get one at Walmart, but you might have to be in the state you need one for when you buy it. Go to your local walmart or wherever you buy them at and ask them. Have fun!

Some states have 1 day licenses, North Carolina actually has a short term license for non-residents (10 days). Check the following website for more info:

I don't really know what a license in WV costs anymore. I purchased a lifetime hunting and fishing license combo about 10 years ago. It cost me $300. Today, they are $300 apiece and $550 for the combo. All I do now is buy my stamps for doe. I don't buy the extra buck stamp anymore. It went from $10 to $25.

In NC if you are fishing in the ocean, you need no license. If you are fishing in lakes and ponds that you do not own, you need a license. You can get temporary licenses at Wal-Mart and K-mart and many local outlets.
I think the temps cost about $5.00.

You do have to have a license, but you can buy them anyplace that sells tackle and bait. For out-of-towners, they're quite cheap, and you can buy one that only lasts a week or two. Just ask a local where to buy bait when you get to NC, then get the license there.

Yes, however, you should be able to buy a visitors license for a few days. Instead of paying a large sum for a full season.

Most states issue a temporary license. It's a LOT cheaper than the fine you'll get if you don't have one.
