The UN is a big time hoax,
It has no purpose of its own,
it serves the purposes of the US,
it is a lame duck with a beaurocratic Secretary General who cant say his toe nails from his fingers.
it is a bankrupt union
it is a corrupt decoy for the wars.
If it is really what it claims to be.. Then Let it be housed in No mans land.. have an army of its own and every govt should collect a UN tax and pay it, The head of the Union Shall be elected by the people of the entire world.. each country shall represent the UN and have just one representative...
Let the worlds best brains and statesmen be pooled in to run it.
Only the UN should have the power to effect a regime change.. and any country usurping the sovernity of another country bear the brunt of all war expenses and rebuilding.

The main purpose of the united nations is to keep international peace, the UN gets involved in many civil wars if the country ask for help. However, with the description of the UN's purpose they have not been very successful in the past. From the genocide in Rwanda to the current civil war in Syria the un has not made that much of a difference in the outcome. Too much money has been funded and no preferable results have been made. So in other words they SUCK at their job and they money for their funding should be sent else where and the UN should no longer exists.

The U.N. has been ill-relevant since it's inception, just as it's predecessor the League Of Nations.
Sanctions are weak or ignored, corruption is rampant, it has been nothing but a festering sore to New York City and the United States in general.
It should be in Sweden, a neutral country. Maybe then it might work, but I doubt it...

The purpose of the United nations is to be a leech. They suck money out of the US coffers, and other nations, so a bunch on unemployable windbags from around the world have a place to call home and give the appearance of working. If you can call that work

They developed this group supposedly to keep all nations friendly to one another and all countries to have a fair playing field and sorta oversee the world. Instead they have lost there way and it has once again turned out to be an agenda driven group for there own benefits.

The purpose is mediation. Of course only Americans hate it because it seeks to compromise our hegemony (position of world superpower).

In this world of "who can you trust" the best answer sometimes is the one you come up with yourself. Here is a link to the UN website regarding "what they do".

There's some information about them, but realistically they're are a nothing more than a puppet of the United States to create "peace" and instill an iron fist over other nations. Though they don't do a great job of either.
