3/x + 4 = 5/x
Multiply through by x.
3 + 4x = 5
4x = 5 -3
4x = 2
x = 1/2

3/(1/2) = 6
5/(1/2) = 10
6+ 4 =10
3/(1/2) + 4 = 5/(1/2)

Now in order to answer this you need a common denominator. I see you already have x as the common denominator for 3/x and 5/x. Therefore, the convenient thing to do would be to change the 4 into something over x. Now, 4x/x = 4.

Therefore, you have 3/x + 4x/x = 5/x

You can cancel the denominator now since it's common to all three fractions.

So now you have

3+4x = 5

Subtract 3 from both sides.

Now you have 4x = 2

x = 1/2

(3/x + 4 = 5/x)x first multiply everything by x. Then you get 3+4x=5 Subtract 3 from 5 which is 2. and then divide 4 over 2 and u get 2/4 which is then simplified to 1/2. i hope this was helpful. wat grade are you in btw?
