I went through a radiologic technologist program back in the early '90s. One of my classmates had a DUI about 10 years earlier. I can't remember the details, but when it came time for him to take his licensing exams, he had to provide all kinds of documentation concerning this conviction. He was able to get his radiologic technology license. Then about 5 years after he passed his licensing exams, he got wrapped up in meth, and was convicted (of exactly what charge, I am unsure). He spent time in the CA prison system, finishing his time at Pelican Bay, which is a notorious prison in CA. At that point, he was unable to renew his license with the national licensing agency (ARRT).
If you are serious about becoming a RT, you should talk to the program directors of the schools that are in your area (the programs you would be applying to). They would have the best information about this, and should be able to tell you if you are wasting your time. Best wishes.....

yup it sure can.
Additionally - most hospitals will not hire anyone with a drug felony.
I am not sure what process Rad techs go through - but there must be a governing body that you can check with to see what precludes certification. Also contact local schools with radiology programs and speak with them.

You need to speak with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists about your specific situation:
