I work for a small company that is having a staff meeting that should last about 30 miniutes. I've been told that I should be paid for minimally two hours by law. Is that true? And if so, where can I find the law that supports that statement?

Wow 30 whole minutes.
You should get paid for the time you are at the meeting.
NO more NO less.
This is a prime example of the laziness, and sense of entitlement that has driven this country to the brink of collapse.
So many people want more and more for doing less and less.

Do what is expected of you by your employer.
If you feel that your employer expects too much from you, then FIND ANOTHER JOB,
or just quit.
That will really teach them a lesson.
Then you can sit around the house all day, until they foreclose on your mortgage.
Stop whining, grow up, and stop expecting to have everything handed to you.

Why don't you just stop looking for an angle, it's people like you that run and look for a law to help support their laziness that make our nations workforce a joke. I have a novel idea for you, if you don't feel it's fair that you have to come in for 30 min staff meeting, then find a different job. A job is not a right, and no one should protect you in this area except your self. If you aren't smart enough or qualified enough to find a better job, then there is no one to blame but yourself, and you either go jobless and die of starvation, or you better yourself and make yourself more desirable and valuable to an employer like the rest of the productive, self made wealthy people that are working their way to the top. Don't run and ***** about it, quit. OR just go the meeting and remember that if you were a self made millionaire, you wouldn't HAVE to go to 30 min staff meetings.

There is no law that mandates minimum hours. In actuality, if they pay you for more time than the actual meeting, they could require you to stay in the building for all time paid. I worked for a company up north that paid 2 hours show-up time for rainouts. An employee got drunk during that period and had a wreck. The company was "paying" him to drink and had to pay damages.

Different states have different laws. They could be required to ONLY pay you for the time you were there. And small businesses especially have different laws than big corporations.
