Beyond the obvious of family, religious figures, etc., there are a number of them depending on context and age. However, that said, Ayn Rand would have to be in the top of such a list as would Jiddu Krishnamuti and of course Milton Friedman.

One cannot pass over the Founders and here, for me Thomas Paine leads the way. If the Founders are mentioned, those from whom they learned should not be forgotten and here Charles-Louis de Secondat, baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu is the primary teacher with his book ‘Spirit of Laws.’

Personally, my parents. They showed me how to act as an adult and I keep many of the same values they had laid down. As far as historical figures, I think probably Abraham Lincoln for his understanding, tolerance and fortitude. The guy had it all.
