How do you know the only people who type poorly are parents?
Here are some thoughts:
1. They have something to say and are thinking faster than they can type.
2. They don't hit spell check before they post their thoughts.
3. They never took typing class in school.
4. They usually have their secretary type all their documents up, but she was too busy working to post their comments.
5. They are trying to participate in this stupid kid-typing fad where everything is abbreviated (idk, bff, lol).
6. They have poor speaking skills, so they have poor typing skills.
7. They type poorly because they are under-educated.
8. They didn't do well in their English and typing classes, but the school system passed them to the next grade anyway.
9. They are democrats, educated in a primarily democratic school.
10. They want to drive educated people crazy.

lol Jillian I think it's because most adults didn't have computers around in their time, so they never went to computer class or whatever. They're just getting into the swing of things (like the technology age) and they're getting used to it. Kids are just better faster because they're lived with it for their whole lives. Computers are also a crucial part of our world, because a lot of things revolve around them. So, children need to learn how to use them so they can get a successful job in the future. And not all adults type bad. Many work someplace where they type everyday.
Hope I could help!!

Maybe they learned to type at some point, but went into jobs where it isn't needed much, and so they lost their typing skills. If you don't do it a lot you can lose your ability pretty quickly.
Also, for some people asking here English is not their first/native language, so they may just have a hard time spelling - imagine the errors you might have if you typed in another language.
PS - I think your typing is fine.

There's is a much larger percentage of non-parents who do not type well! Just go to the Celebrities category! I'm a parent and type very well, thank you!
And, kronik_hawaiian_ice: believe it or not, we did type before computers on *gasp* typewriters! There was life on earth before you!

I agree with you, but I see this is a problem with most people on the internet, text messaging or whatever! They have become very lazy and do not want to spell words out! The other rhing is I am not sure some people are good a spelling?

They learn from their 12 year old kids. I can imagine the conversation, "mum, when typing 'a' you must remember to hit the 'caps lock' button, don't bother to correct your self as it will waste a valuble 2 seconds. If you say 'u' instead of 'you' people will respect you for being smart enough to save time".
What i don't get is people who think typing in caps helps get their point accross, it doesn't, most people get pissed off.

Because we have so many things begging for our attention that we cannot and are not just consumed with using proper typing techniques above all else. Many of us are splitting our attention between crumb crunching curtain climbers, teen agers with drama issues and a lot more.

Why do some people who are critical of a handful of people always say "all" when they are really only referring to a handful of isolated incidents, and say "bad" when they mean "poorly"?

I believe they are trying to get in with the new generation of kids that don't type right at all... without realizing they just look dumb.
