I have an emachine that I'm having problems with. I can turn on the power but nothing happens. My monitor reads "monitor is working check your computer connection" Everything is set up correctly but I can't get the darn thing to do anything. What could the problem be? Any ideas? I was going to put in the restore disk but I couldnt even get the disk drive to open.

The power light comes on and the fan runs but that's it. Before it started doing this when it was working it started making a clicking noise. I have no clue what that was about.

if you hit the power button and nothing happens your power supply is bad.

I agree with Joey above, if your drive will not even open then the power supply has gone. These are pretty standard and reasonably easy to replace.

I would check the connections again then blame the power supply.

eMachine.. I swear that company has issues.

eMachines are known for failing hardware. I had my first eMachine three days, it crashed.

Did something happen before it crashed that might have caused it? Security update? Get hacked?
