I was wondering how can you explain why the atmospheric layer containing ozone is much warmer than the levels above and below it?
Thanks for any answers. ^^

The solar radiation contains Infra-red radiation, visible light,ultra-violet radiation etc.Among these radiations, the ultra-violet radiation is not allowed to reach the earth's surface as it is absorbed by the ozone whose concentation is more in the lower stratosphere. The ozone lies roughly between 10 and 50 Kms with maximum ozone concentration at about 20 to 25 Kms.Because of the absorption of Ultra-violet rays by this ozone-rich layer, the lower stratosphere which contains this ozone layer gets heated very much and the temperature increases with height in stratosphere.Above and below this stratosphere, the ozone concentration is drastically reduced leading to fall of temperature with heaight.
