I got pregnant twice while on Metformin. My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage and from my second I have a healthy girl who is almost 9 months.

My cycles never really became regular while on metformin, and I also didn't have very bad cramps.

I would continue on metformin, maybe check with your doctor about your dosage. I know that many women only notice a change by taking 1500mg or more a day. If you are taking less, you may need to have it increased.

If even after increasing your dosage, you still aren't able to concieve, talk to your doctor about other options. If your ovaries have too many cysts to allow a healthy mature egg to be released, you may want to look into ovarian drilling. You could also try clomid with your metformin.

If you are having irregular cycles, then even though you are on the meformin and are not too heavy, you are still not ovulating. You need to solve the ovulation problem with the right fertility medications.

Find a good reproductive endocrinologist.

You might end up pregnant much faster than you can imagine once you start ovulating.
Five years is a long time. You have been so patient. It's time to just go get the right help.

Good luck!!
