Myself and most of the guys I know would define "cheating as having sex with someone other than the woman ( He) is married or committed to.

I am aware that a great number of women consider looking at porn, having a female friend or chatting on-line to be cheating. I disagree, I understand how it might be upsetting ,but I would not define the latter as cheating.

Any sort of deep confiding, emotional connection where you find your self sharing more, with another than with your spouse can be considered cheating , it isn't only the physical act of sleeping together it's the actual steps prior to.
The planning, the secret conversations or meeting the thrill , all the effort that should be placed with your partner or spouse is being placed else where. it's the betrayal of trust.
If anyone feels they want or need to be unfaithful, my suggestion is be honest enough to end the relationship you are currently in before per-suing another even a little fling, the pain and destruction you will cause is too great for a singular selfish act. Think about it if you remain single you can devote all your free time to pursuing as many flings as you would like, and not hurt another.

I would assume you mean during a marraige, since this is the marraige and divorce section, lol! Having sex w/ someone who is not your spouse or doing sexual favors for another who is not your spouse. Giving someone at work a massage who is of the opposite sex, kissing anyone who is not your spouse, holding hands, talking to someone at work about sex instead of talking to your spouse, Doing anything you know will upset your spouse is cheating. Web camming w/ the opposite sex, chatting w/ the opposite sex, even if you are not talking about sex but perhaps are talking about being together! Fantasizing about someone other than your partner is cheating, texting the opposite sex, actually, it's doing anything w/ the opposite sex that you should be only doing w/ your spouse! If you want to play around, become or remain single! =) The list goes on... I want to add to Happy 2 up there above my answer... he stated that in the dictionary about cards... to go against the rules... this applies to relationships as well... to go against the rules, it does not have to be sexual to be cheating...

transitive verb to deceive or mislead somebody, especially for personal advantage

Basically cheating is deceiving, an attempt to decive somebody, however the only person you deceive is yourself. Anything acheaved by cheating can easily be lost because thet truth always comes out. It's just as good as a lie.......

It is just morally wrong, and when you have no morals well you live a life of lies, deception and failure..... I hope this helps.

Anything you would be hiding from your spouse. If it takes anything (money, affection, time, energy, etc.) away from your spouse, it is probably cheating ... and if you are wondering if something is cheating, ask yourself this instead - how would he/she feel if she watched you doing this from afar or "caught" this after the fact...

ANYTHING that your mate would consider inappropriate... a look, a phone call, flirting... I consider emotional flirting JUST AS WRONG as physical cheating. If you wouldn't do it in front of your mate, it's considered cheating.

cheating starts a long time before 'penetration' (if you like.)
it starts with an intent. a dishonesty.

anything you wouldn't do if your partner was looking is cheating. because cheating is about dishonesty.

Anything that you feel would hurt or cause pain to the one you love. Or anything you feel it is wrong personally. I would say spending time with someone other then your spouse/GF/BF.
Really when you think about it if you think it is cheating then it is!
