Infant skulls arent very protective of their brains when newborn, so is there a possibility that vibrating chairs can cause some brain damage? I know it sounds rediculous but it makes sense to me...all that head shaking could cause brain cell damage you would think. What do you moms think about that?

Actually, infant skulls are very protective of the brain. It's the neck muscles that aren't able to support the head well yet. So, as long as the head is vibrating, and not flopping around, the baby should be just fine.

Also, take your cues from the baby. I had one baby who absolutely LOVED those vibrating seats. I had another who really never wanted to be in one.

Infant Vibrating Seat

The vibration from the chair is very mild, way too mild to hurt the baby. People have bounced babies all over the world for the whole of human history because little ones find it so soothing. Remember they are jostled quite a bit in the womb. It is a much more violent shaking that caused brain damage and death.

The vibrating seats dont vibrate that much. My daughters head barely moves when I have it on. There is no way for a vibrating seat to cause brain damage only because it is not shaking them or causing there head to move a lot.

If it caused brain damage then it would be on the market! If you feel where baby's head is on the chair, you would see that there really isn't that much vibration.

It will not cause brain dammage. It will not make a kid retarted or anything like that. Studies have shown that some circumcised boys may not bond well with their mothers because of how much pain the circumcision causes. The baby is usually given right back to the mother right after the operation and this leads the baby to believe that the mother is the reason for his pain. Therefore it can effect the bonding process. And yes they may have trouble breast feeding because right when they go back to the mother after to opperation to brest feed they are "mad" at the mother and associate pain with breastfeeding and mom. So it can effect somethings yes. And it can leave emotional scaring. but not brain dammage. -Connor

yes i do think they can cause brain damage, those chairs mimic shaken baby syndrome to some degree. People will say its just a gentle vibration but it really isn't. I have never put my son in one of those chairs for this very reason, i don't believe they are safe and i do believe they have the potential to cause harm to a small infant.

No, the brain would have to be shook with such force that it was hitting the sides of the skull, which happnens when a baby is shook front to back.
