To me it is very important to share common interests with a partner! I feel that if we have something in common then we will be more comfortable together and do things we both like to do!

That is almost a double edged sword. When you do share common interests you can both spend time with each doing these things. Some people find that very important in a relationship. On the other hand, some people might like the fact their partner doesn't have many of the same interests. This means that they can learn new things and the other can teach them. I think it very much depends on the people, however, most would probably agree that having some common interests are important.
Ultimately, I think common interests can be a catalyst for a relationship, but they won't support it in the long run. If you and your partner share similar attitudes and goals, that is going to be what supports the relationship.

I think it is not necessary to share common interests for a successful relationships. But it definitely would be a plus point if there are some. On the other hand if most of the interests are common, it may lead to boredom.
If there are no/less common interests both the people must take good care to respect each others interest and give them enough time to engage in them as well.

BOTH Often sex IS the common interest. I don't think common interests are important at all. I want my partner to have her own interests, and to share her accomplishments with me. I expect her to give me space to do my thing too. Then we actually have things to talk about. If all we have are common interests, there's really not much room for conversation is there?

It's nice to have some common interest but it's not necessary to have a healthy relationship. Opposites can attract and have a wonderful relationship.
