a sheikh on tv said if we can afford it, zakat al fitr can be 20 LE.he emphasised the word CAN, ie, fi qudretuh .
so,moslems can give 5 , 10, or 20 Le according to their ability, as advised by different sheikhs.
a man who has a small income , wouldnt be expected to pay more than 5 LE per family member.
a person who can afford a little more , can pay 10Le.
as for a rich man, he should pay 20 Le , this would be counted as more thawab for him.
the amount should be given in cash so that the person who receives it can do what he likes with it.

Yes, I paid in cash too.
Thank you for reminding the others. I would like also to remind all of Zakat of money and gold (which is not used for one complete year according to Arabic calender)
The amount of {Al Nesab} equal 85 grams of gold {21} if any person keeps money of gold above this value and left for 1 year, he should pay 2,5 % for this amount of money.
Ramadan Kareem for all

Edit : Zakat Al fetr is obligatory for every Muslim and the man (husband or father) is responsible the wife and sons.

Nesab (limit) for Zakah for money or gold and silver according to gold prices these days (85 X 114 = 9690 Egyptian pounds)

It is traditional in my husbands family that the zakat be paid before the last week of Ramadan,so yes,it has been paid. But I am starting my own "family tradition' in that we should not refer to our zakat as something that is paid but something that is given.
For we do it with free will and gratitude that Allah swt our benefactor has placed us in a position where we are able to "pay " the zakat.
Our zakat should be thought of as coming from out of our hearts and not our pockets or bank accounts.
I wish you a happy, peaceful and blessed Eid

It's a separate box. There is a box for donations, a box for "Fitrana" and a box for Zakat. However not all mosques can receive Zakat.

Not yet but intending tomorrow inshallah.
As for the equivalent, take a look at the below

Look at this baa :)))
