When I was 9 years old, I saw the Edinburgh Military Tattoo (kind of like a parade or circus) in Edinburgh Castle. The sight of the lone piper on the battlements as the sun sets, and the sounds, are the most beautiful memory I have. Next to my children's first smile.
I would love to go to all of Canada's most historical sites, Fort Henry. Charlotte Town, etc.

There are two things that impressed me so much. One was the Changing of the Guard at the Unknown Soldier's Tomb. It was such a dignified, meaningful experience. The other was the United Nations Building. Not only was it beautiful inside but seeing the room where people from all over the world gather and communicate with one another about world problems has significant meaning for me. The seats are situated in a circular manner and behind are Individual small rooms with glass windows where there are interpreters so each person can understand in their own language. Kinda reminds me of the Day of Pentecost when people were gathered from all over and when the disciples stood up to speak each person understood the language as if it were their own. A tour of NYC would include some small cathedrals where there is nothing but gold and stained-glass windows. Yes, I would love to take my family there. Also I would like to see the art museum in France. Mmm

Without a doubt, the Smithsonian in DC.
It's wonderful! I have always love the Museum of Natural History (dinosaurs, ancient Egypt, etc) but there are 19 museums, including the Space , the Medical, Art, American History and more. And they are forever adding new exhibits.
I was raised in Baltimore, and i went several times a year. I took my kids once I moved away, and now when it's vacation time, that's where they take their kids, even though they live in Tn.
While you're there you can see the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and others. Lots of Historical sites in Washington. You can see them all in one trip.
You'll never forget it.

The California Missions
Since the Spanish friars and native peoples joined together in the building of these settlements, this land we call California has been shaped and influenced by what they accomplished in that most ambitious undertaking. From the vineyards of Sonoma to the ranches of Santa Barbara to the adobe arcades and red tile roofs of San Diego, the missions have left their mark on who we are and what we have become.

Ticonderoga is pretty neat. If you go, check out where Lake George and Lake Champlain meet. It is beautiful! My favorite place is Lake George, NY [area]. Well for one, it is rich in American Revolution history. Oh and two, I am from there originally. It is cool to go home every now and then! ;)
