I know I'm supposed to cut down on caffeine but can I still do decaffeinated coffee?

You can. Decaf still has a little caffeine, around 13 mg as compared to 150-180 mg in regular coffee. I drink a cup or two of decaf a few days a week. Just don't drink it all the time, and drink a lot of water or juice.

Also coffee is not a diuretic, caffeine is. The main problem to me is that decaf coffee still contains all the acids from the plant. Your body uses calcium to balance the acids so it can tax your calcium stores. A low acidity decaf coffee would be best.

I would first check it says "naturally de-caffeinated" or sometimes "swiss water method decaffeinated". Otherwise the caffeine has probably been removed with solvents, many of which are harmful. Formaldehyde, for one (used for embalming bodies - lovely!).

And in fact, all de-caffeinated coffee still has some caffeine. Don't know how they get away with that! Caffeine-wise you should be OK with a couple of cups, but say you were having lots you could easily get up to the one or two ordinary cup level.

If I were you I'd stick to a nice herbal tea - no problem there!

absolutely, even 1-2 cups regular coffee is ok, just stay below 300 mg total caffeine consumption per day. i was a binge coffee drinker before i got pregnant, and i haven't even missed the real stuff! i have a starbucks once in a while. starbucks actually lists its caffeine amt. online w/ its nutrition info.

Decaf does not have caffeine in it, so it is fine. About 2 cups of regular coffee a day is okay (about 300mg of Caffeine).

I wouldn't see why not, but remember coffee is a diuretic, so use it in moderation. Water is still the best thing you could drink.

yes de-caf is fine, still dont drink too much as there may still be traces of caffeine and the more you drink will add up!
