Okay so theres this kid, and she got her lip pirced and her mom only grounded her for 5 days.

Well, it depends on alot of factors. Is she normally a difficult towards her parents, or is this type of behavior unusual for her? Different parents set different types and durations of discipline, because they know what tends to be appropriate for a particular child.
A bigger question is "Why is this any of your concern?" You seem upset that she didn't receive a more serious punishment. It is JUST a piercing (which I don't agree with!) but it's not a life or death decision that will ruin the rest of her life....

How old is she? What is grounding her for 5 days going to teach her? Make her take it out, don't send her tp her room.

I don`t know what the benifit of peircing is. Why would anyone put holes in their body?
