Why is there mold on my cut flowers at the office? Should I put them in the sun? Or maybe a shadier spot?

Actually, this whitish mold (or whatever it is) is floating at the top of the water and webbed between a few stems and leaves above the water. The flowers are still vibrant and beautiful, but is it time to get rid of them? Will the mold stuff transfer into the air I'm breathing and harm me? (This may be a natural occurance, but this is the first time I've had a glass vase.)

Received the flowers on Friday.
