My 2 son's loved the bouncer chair, but funny enough both of them hated the swing and I gave it away to my neighbour and their little boy hated it as well.( might just be one of those things, as every baby is different ) x The vibrating chair only vibrates slightly, it is safety checked and really can't do any harm. Plus there is the advantage that you can take it with you as you go about the house and get some housework done whilst keeping an eye on them.

I have both and for the middle of the night feedings (if you are going to formula feed) the bouncer chair that vibrates is great-it helped my son wait calmly for a couple minutes while I got his bottle ready (I guess it distracted him for a little bit). I don't use the swing too often but some babies like the swing more than the chair-you'll have to wait and see what your baby likes.
I also like the chair better because it is a lot easier to move then the swing. When I cook, I bring it in the kitchen; when I take a shower, I bring it in the bathroom.

I prefer the swing. I was never comfortable with the vibrating bouncer, it seemed to vibrate too much, and when I put my ear to the seat where my baby's head was, it was actually loud! I had a small take-along Fisher Price swing that we got A LOT of use out of. My daughter loved it, and it was portable and didn't take up a lot of room. Plus, I think they would fit in the swing longer than the bouncer, at least with the one I had.

I have a swing and a bouncer. My swing vibrates as well as plays music and my bouncer seat just plays music. I'd get the swing first off as you will utilize it more. Your baby won't be able to sit in the bouncer until they can hold their head up, and even then they won't be very interested until about 3 months. Your son will also become pretty disinterested in the swing after awhile. My bouncer has an activity set on it with rattling balls etc, he loves playing with it. Don't listen to your mother, it's your baby, buy what you wish :)

I have allways used a rocking chair with my 2 babies. the bouncer chairs are ok but they tend to grow out of them quite quickly and to be honest if your baby likes to kick her legs up in the air a bouncer chair can be very dangerous. The swings are very nice but expensive and take up a lot of room. The rocker chairr has the best of both you can adjust the back as your baby gets bigger so they can lie flat or sit up , you can put it on the stands so its doesnt rock , they tend to be a lot stonger than the bouncer chairs as well so you will be able to use it for longer, and it will fold flat so it wont take up much room when your not using it.
Ask friends and family what they have used everyone has different opinions about whats best you need to think about how much room you will have and how much money you want to spend! good luck

i was wondering the same thing. i think im going to buy both a swing and a bouncer (not one of the newer styles with the vibrator becuase they arent as bouncy as the old ones used 3 b). we were thinking that we would have the swing for the house and sicne we r just getting a little bouncer it would b a sinch to pack up in the car when we go to visit family or an eventful day when going home to rock the baby is out of the question.

good luck hunting it should b fun! lol congrats!

I would have gone crazy without my daughters vibrating chair. I got the fisher price vibrating rocker - she loves it and can fall asleep in it and sit in it and play very happily. However I also got a swing for her. She didn't like it at first but started to really enjoy it at around 3 1/2 months. If it's not in your budget to get both I would definitely get a chair. You are going to use it way more than the swing because you can bring it with you to other people's houses and carry it from room to room so you can do things around the house.

best of luck

I have both, and recommend the same. That is if affordable. Right now they have some swings that aren't as high priced at WalMart. The swing is great for soothing baby and a great napping place. My son thinks the vibrating bouncer is play toy. He uses it when wide awake.

If you get a swing, I suggest buying one that plugs in to the wall. It is a pain if you have to keep buying batteries.

My baby (3.5 months) loves both. She likes the swing for her playtime (animal, music, rain noises, tropical mobile) and the vibrating bouncer when she's ready to wind down. The swing was rather expensive about $75, but the bouncer was only about $25.

My boy is 7 weekts and loves his vibrating chair. It cost us £22 and was worth every penny. I take it everywhere round the house and even to the grandparen ts so he has his own special seat!
We do also have a swing which was £50 more and he will only sit in that for 10-15 mins. Also it is not portable!

congratulations
