A mother who kills her children is insane and it is a question of what we can do about it that will save the children. A husband who sees his wife begin to have emotional problems and doesn't get her help is just as responsible for the death of the children as she is, as is anyone else who sees the danger signs and does nothing.
How many husbands can actually say that they watch for signs of post-partum depression in their wives after a child's birth, for example.
How many husbands put pressure on their wives to be the perfect wife regardless of her feelings or emotional needs?
The fact that we are hearing of so many women killing their children is a sign that we are becoming more aware of the problem that has existed in one form or another for years but now it is up to us to do those things which will end that just as we would with any other thing that is life threatening - polio, for example.

oh no...who's at it now?

look, alot of women suffer through depression. and so many people are unaware of what signs to look for. for those of us that realize we may be depressed and need help, we can't ask for help because those close to us will call us a failure and deem us as not good enough. if you call CPS for some kind of counseling or assistance, they just come take your kids away and it can take years to get them back.
being a mother is a hard resposiblity. it's 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. and you never see the wonderful results until they are moved out and gone. and sometimes.....not even then.

do I condone what Andrea Yates did to her children? not at all. but i can understand her frustration and anger. in a sick way she did take care of her children. she can't let anyone else take care of them, because she is their mother and supposed to be the best one for the job, and the only one. but she failed. she didn't know she could have had help. i do point a few fingers at the husbands of women who do these things. it's always the selfish prick that goes on with is life and expects the woman to make sure his life doesn't change. trying to cater to a man like that and take care of his children at the same time is impossible. but it's the women that are made to feel like it's our job.
then their are the ones that are lucky. they have a full support group all around them. they have everyone to rely on. women who go through this depression...are usually stay at home moms with no support group. then the doctors can be to blame. they get so clinical what woman wants to open up the them about depression?
i seriously believe that all men need to take a pregnancy class upon their wives/partners being pregnant. so they can be educated on what to help out with emotionally. and so they can recognize what signs to look for to seek additional help.

I've said the same thing. I just heard a story about a woman that fought for custody of her 5 year old son after he had been in his grandmothers care since birth. She won. A year later he was dead. She would make him stand in the corner naked for hours and beat him for no reason, and ultimately killed him by beating him in the head with a frying pan. I was sick after I heard this. I was told he was a good kid with good manners. He was loved by his grandmaother very mcuh. I don't even know why his mom wanted him back. He was perfectly fine where he was. It was a woman my sister in law knew. It was never on the news. So mothers killing their kids happens a lot more than we even know. It's very, very sad.

This are mothers who are emotionaly unstable it's not about giving away their kids or just let them go. It seems they will so good about bitting the kids up and punish them. For me my kids are the best God has given me I share each every thing with them. We should make sure that Mothers like them are punished for their deeds.

It is very unfortunate that the law still blindly believes in the old-fashioned belief that mothers have their own children's best interest at heart. I wish the world was so black and white.

Because there is something fundamentally wrong with their faculties. You have to test for a license to drive but anyone can be a parent. Twisted, right?

You dont get it and you never will. To give the kids away would be a rationale thing...clearly, these parents are irrationale at the time.
